I'm just tracking them here.

LucyLucy Bernholzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09253941214286179394noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3614581.post-76302354291729223482011-05-09T10:13:01.960-07:002011-05-09T10:13:01.960-07:00It seems important to clarify on this list that Mo...It seems important to clarify on this list that Mohammed Yunus was cleared of all charges in relation to the Grameen Bank. The government did use his age as a way to eliminate him as head of the bank, but retracted any allegations of wrongdoing as I understand it.
The way our media works it is much easier to get allegations publicized than retraction of those allegations at a later date.Savitrihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01513015463854193284noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3614581.post-39707597865477534202011-05-03T08:29:23.106-07:002011-05-03T08:29:23.106-07:00There are lessons for donors and nonprofits in thi...There are lessons for donors and nonprofits in this story. Nonprofits will of necessity need to be more transparent and timely with their reporting both in regards to their finances but the impact of their work. Board members will have to be even more vigilant and better stewards of their missions.

Could this have been prevented? The Minnesota Charities Review Council created a set of standards and independently evaluates groups to see if they measure up. A similar set of standards is used in Maryland for peer review of nonprofits to ensure they meet a certain standard of excellence. Both types of review would likely have raised questions for the group’s board and donors and helped everyone to avoid these blunders.
